A&P MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                     A&P Maintenance Technician

Division:                       Henderson Executive Airport

Reports to:                  Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status:               Non-Exempt (Hourly)


Position Summary

The A&P Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, repairs, and modifications on a wide range of corporate and general aviation aircraft. Work must be carried out in accordance with Apex Aviation policies and procedures, FAA regulations, and manufacturer technical data. This role requires hands-on expertise with turbine, piston, turboprop, and rotor aircraft, including mid- and large-cabin jets. AMTs are expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, and documentation accuracy, while supporting Apex’s global AOG operations and satellite facilities as needed.


Primary Job Functions:

· Perform day-to-day planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance within estimated timeframes.

· Inspect, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft airframes, engines, and components.

· Ensure all maintenance documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with CFRs, company policies, and applicable manuals.

· Accurately log time to appropriate work orders and discrepancies.

· Use only approved and certified hardware, tools, and materials in maintenance activities.

· Ensure rejected or unserviceable parts are properly segregated and documented per Repair Station Manual/Quality Control Manual (RSM/QCM).

· Coordinate with Quality Control to facilitate inspections.

· Tow and taxi aircraft, and perform engine run-ups in accordance with Apex Aviation standards.

· Ensure aircraft servicing functions are completed, including fueling, lubrication, and system checks.

· Maintain hangar and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

· Adhere to tool calibration and shelf-life requirements.

· Promote and maintain a safe work environment, following OSHA, FAA, and Apex safety standards.

· Complete required and recurrent training as defined in Company Manuals.

· Support AOG operations, including short-notice assignments, weekend work, and travel as required.

· Work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while demonstrating professionalism and leadership.

· Perform other duties as assigned by management.


KNOWLEDGE OF:

· Aircraft systems, including engines, flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, and landing gear.

· FAA Part 91, 135, and 145 operations.

· Manufacturer manuals, schematics, blueprints, and service bulletins.

· Flight line operations, aircraft towing/taxiing, and ramp safety.

· Safe working practices, PPE, and hazard prevention.

· Aircraft tools, test equipment, technical orders, and publications.


ABILITY TO / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

· Troubleshoot and resolve technical and mechanical issues efficiently.

· Interpret and apply FAA regulations, technical data, and maintenance manuals.

· Complete precise documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.

· Work independently with minimal supervision and effectively within a team.

· Adapt to changing schedules, travel requirements, and austere work environments.

· Lead by example, setting a positive tone and supporting skill development within the team.


QULIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

· FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate in good standing required.

· High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training preferred.

· 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience preferred (corporate jet experience strongly desired).

· Proficiency with Corridor or similar maintenance tracking systems.

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical publications.

· Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills.

· Valid driver’s license required.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

· Professional demeanor and appearance.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Physical Demands: This position requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, and entering confined spaces. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50–75 pounds, with team lifting as necessary. Duties also require climbing and descending aircraft stands, stairs, and ladders, as well as maintaining spatial and situational awareness around aircraft and moving equipment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in hangar, ramp, and field environments with exposure to noise, varying weather conditions, and typical aviation hazards. The role requires travel, including occasional short-notice AOG assignments and support at other Apex facilities. Compliance with FAA/DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements is mandatory.
